Social Action Research to Make a Difference
MSU’s Research Consortium on Gender-Based Violence (RCGV) provides a collaborative, multi-disciplinary vehicle for Michigan State University faculty, staff and students to use social action research to influence local, state, national and international practice and policy related to gender-based violence.
RCGV faculty and staff are dedicated to research and outreach initiatives related to ending and preventing gender-based violence and improving the community response to survivors. RCGV faculty are committed to mentoring the next generation of gender-based violence researchers by providing substantial educational and employment opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students.

Campus Sexual Culture

In this season, we take a thorough look into campus sexual culture and the effects it has, as well as what we can do to create a more positive and supportive environment for survivors. Dr. Sarah Prior discusses the understanding IHE’s and its students have on their own campus sexual culture, as well as what we can do to combat IHE’s inaction and move towards a state of institutional courage.
Hotline Development and Training
with Dr. Carrie Moylan & Dr. Michelle Munro-Kramer
Hotlines provide immediate and anonymous access to resources and services that are imperative to survivors of trauma. In this season, we will learn about the benefits for both web and text based hotlines as well as the necessary training for each. Dr. Carrie Moylan, Dr. Michelle Munro-Kramer, Kathleen Miller and Logan Forrester of MSU’s Center for Survivors discuss how to develop a hotline and how to navigate inappropriate chatter.
Economic Abuse & Coerced Debt
With Dr. Adrienne Adams
In this season, we will learn what economic abuse entails and about coerced debt, a specific type of economic abuse. Dr. Adrienne Adams discusses how to identify when someone is experiencing economic abuse and recommendations for how advocates can best serve survivors facing this type of abuse.
