Dr. Heather McCauley is a social epidemiologist, Associate Professor of Social Work, and co-director of SPARK Research for Social Change at Michigan State University. Dr. McCauley’s federally funded research portfolio is at the intersection of violence prevention and health equity. She has authored or co-authored more than 100 journal articles and book chapters in outlets spanning a variety of health and social science disciplines. She was Executive Producer of the documentary, “Sparking Hope: The Power of Improv” and the Emmy nominated documentary, “Sparking Communities for Change” both produced by Detroit PBS. Dr. McCauley is the 2023 recipient of the MSU College of Social Science Outstanding Teaching Award for her dedication to and excellence in undergraduate education. Nationally, she serves on the editorial boards for Violence Against Women and Journal of Family Violence. She is a grant reviewer for CDC, NIJ, and NIH. Since 2013, Dr. McCauley has served on the Board of Trustees at St. Lawrence University.
